NeighbourHubs
We spend a lot of time pondering solutions for people who would like to compost their food scraps, but can’t. Maybe they don’t have the space, or have mobility issues… there can be all sorts of reasons why home composting isn’t an option. At the same time, keen gardeners and allotment plot holders are realising just how much material they need to compost if they’re serious about raising the fertility of their soil.
One solution is to become a ‘host’ with http://www.sharewaste.com and arrange to collect some of your neighbours food scraps or other compostable materials. We hope to run a pilot project in 2024, supporting people to set up street level composting hubs with their neighbours. It’s a great way to recycle materials locally while getting to know your neighbours better. That’s why we’re calling them ‘NeighbourHubs’.
We already run this hub from our own front doorstep. Thanks to Morten and Daphne for this lovely clip of them dropping off their food scraps ๐
